Draft the estimate

Five cards down it: Estimate, Design agreement, Proposal, Pre-install pack and Care manual. The ones not started carry a quiet To do.

The card says what it will do: Built from your rates and the current measurements. You read it here before anyone else does.

You stay where you are. The card turns to In review and the whole review opens inside it: three finish families side by side, each with its own range.

Under the ranges, Built from lists what the figure was made of: the project record, the issue date, and how the measurements arrived, such as Client measured and the total feet. At the foot, Not yet visible to the client.

The low and high of a family are the cheapest and priciest rung you priced inside that family, taken straight off your Ballpark estimate card. There is no percentage spread and no padding. A family whose rungs share a rate correctly collapses to one figure.

That is why the card is worth trusting: it is two of your own numbers, not a figure derived from them.

Discard clears the draft, under the line Discarding clears this draft. Fix the source data, then draft it again. That is the way to change a figure: correct the measurements or the rates it came from and draft again.

There is no box anywhere on the card to type a different number into. The engine exists to take the second-guessing out of a figure you can already produce in five minutes, and an editable total would put it back.
